06. August 2019 - 10. August 2019

Natalia Lach-Lachowicz was born in 1937 in Żywiec, Poland. In 1970 she co-founded the PERMAFO Gallery in Wrocław with her then partner, Andrzej Lachowicz, and Zbigniew Dłubak. Since 1975 she has been engaged in the International Feminist Art movement and is a pioneer of feminist art in Poland. She is most known for her series „Consumer Art“ (1972), which paired consumption and erotic motifs. She wanted to ridicule the obscureness of the communist system, in which obtaining such foods as bananas or sausages was often nearly impossible because of shortages. In 1974, she created „Natalia ist Sex“ (Natalia is Sex), presented in a Berlin gallery, documentation of photographs of intimate encounters which were layout out to spell out the title. Her art is very engaged in social and political issues. She works in the media of photography, performance art, experimental films, videos, installations and sculptures. She lives in Wrocław.
